On November 11-12, 2012, forty-two (42) trustees and presidents from five community colleges in the state of Nebraska met at the Norfolk Lifelong Learning Center for a two-day Governance Institute for Student Success. During the gathering, trustees and presidents focused on strong governance practices, key characteristics of effective boards, the importance of student success data, and the conditions and climates for fostering a student success and completion agenda. Through their participation in the GISS, these boards set standards, clarified expectations, and serve as leaders through their ongoing commitment to student success.
