A total of over ninety (90) participants from the leadership of the Los Angeles Community College District, (LACCD) including its constituent colleges, attended the GISS – LACCD 2016 held in two parts October 19–20, 2016. The first part was both a scheduled public Board session for two hours followed by a closed executive session for two hours with all seven members of the LACCD Board of Trustees and the Chancellor on October 19, 2016, at the LACCD Educational Services Center in Los Angeles.

Of the ninety (90) participants attending this institute, 13 were LACCD Trustees, the District Chancellor and College Presidents. Remaining participants were District and College administrators and administrative staff, Faculty Senate and Faculty Union leaders, Classified Staff Union leaders, and Student Government Association leaders.

Springboard to Strategic Planning

Entitled Springboard to Strategic Planning, the GISS – LACCD 2016 was designed to engage District and College personnel to promote a district-wide student success agenda in their strategic planning processes. Participants reviewed data and key indicators of student success, equity and completion, developed key questions to improve student outcomes, explored high impact policies and practices and change dynamics to enhance student success, and shared goals of college plans to prepare for development of the District’s 2017-2021 Strategic Plan.
